My family

Well it's been pretty crazy around here the last few weeks. Grandma Donna came from South Dakota and Grandma and Grandpa Buchta came all the way from Oregon and then Aunt Jessica drove down from North Carolina. Since there's not a whole lot to do in South Georgia we slept in a lot and sat on the porch and went out for coffee. Now that everyone's gone I've been cleaning and organizing again. I feel so behind on everything and am trying to figure out where to start. I have 5 magazines that have come in the mail this past month that i haven't even cracked. I'm usually all over them when they arrive. Oh and my thank you's going all the way back to my Colorado baby shower are yet to be written. Is a mass "thank you" email appropriate? That's about what it's coming down to. People just throw them away anyway. For those of you reading this right now...thank you.
Oh and did I tell you I'm a dancer too?

Ellie's first day at the spa

We've discovered a not so nice smell coming from the neck of the baby that conflicts with that oh so sweet baby smell. A little bit of spit-up and some sweat in the neck creases is a recipe for a funky smell. I wondered how clean they actually get them in the hospital too after the journey into the world. So we decided it was time for a sponge bath. With assistance from Grandma it went pretty well. Baths might be Ellianna's favorite thing to do when she's awake (which isn't too often). We learned that before bed is not a good time becuase she loves them so much that she wants to hang out with her clean self for a long time after. Which made for a very late bedtime. Her umbilical chord has fallen off so now we make the move to the baby tub...we'll see how she feels about that.
I'm not the baby anymore

Maggie and Connor are fairing quite well these days. They lost their room to guests and have been moved to the living room. Maggie is suffering due to loss of attention. She's started digging holes and digging up the grapevines that we just planted (transports from the northwest). Connor walks around with this very somber and a little depressed look. He's right at my feet wherever I'm nursing. We tried the walk around the block thing the other day and well, we just need to work on that some more. A stroller and two dogs who haven't been walked in over a month can be a recipe for disaster. The weather has cooled down a bunch so it has been so great being outdoors on the porch. Ellie likes the fresh air.

The first week at home

Well it hasn't turned out to be as crazy as everyone says it is. She is for sure a night owl. I'm talking eyes wide open at 3AM. So we're adjusting to the night life here at out house. Sometimes I feel like I should vacuum or do a load of laundry since I'm up. The dogs are a little confused with the new hours around here, but they are so good. Still working on the breast feeding thing. I refer to it as a sport...practice makes perfect. You can't let injuries get you down and you can't give up! Ben has turned into this different kind of man as I've seen the daddy in him...he loves her so much. We just love sitting around staring at her. It never gets old, even if it is in the middle of the night.
